Flotilla 12 Classes

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxilary, Edmonds Flotilla, is offering BOATING/NAVIGATION COURSES for students in North King and South Snohomish Counties. Flotilla 12 holds regular classes in a number of boating safety, boat handling, navigation, rules of the road and other great subjects. Below is a listing of upcoming classes. America's Boating Course (ABC)
Course fee is $35

Approved by Washington state for "Mandatory Boater Education". This beginning boating class gives you the knowledge needed to obtain a boat license or safety certification in many states including Washington. Many boat insurance companies offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete America's Boating Course.

May 12th - Three Rivers Marine - Time 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. - Pre-registration required
June 23rd - Chuck Olson Chevrolet - time 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. - Pre-registration required


 

 

GPS for Mariners
May 19th; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Course fee: $45 and includes text

GPS for Mariners - a comprehensive course with great information surrounding navigation using our Global Positioning System (GPS). Hands-on course with information on programming and using features on your GPS- Bring your handheld Garmin GPS if you have one.

This course will be held at the Port of Edmonds, 446 Admiral Way - Note Bring a sack lunch, also dress for outdoor activity (1 hour).


 

 

How to Read a Nautical Chart 
Two sessions for this class on May 1st & May 8th; 7:00 - 9:00 pm

How to Read a Nautical Chart - This is a mini-course designed to teach some of the basics surrounding Nautical Charts.  The information learned applies to users of both paper charts as well as electronic charts (GPS and PC-based) - Also a great refresher for those with experience.  Each student will recieve a copy of Nigel Calder's book How to Read a Nautical Chart.
